seatac art attack

what will you build

  • A car half buried in the ground with headlights that flash at night?
  • Your own version of the monolith from 2001, a Space Odyssey?
  • Maybe a sculpture of PeeWee Herman out of a log with a chainsaw?
  • A miniature bamboo pagoda populated by He-Man dolls?
  • Perhaps a 20 foot tall umbrella tree?
  • The Lincoln Monument constructed of old pallet slats?
  • Or an 8 foot tall teddy bear watching over your neighborhood?

We’re excited to see what you can create when your imagination runs wild.

The Goal of SeaTac Art Attack is to create a wonderland on the streets of town.

Pieces that will get people wandering, and talking, and saying, “Hey,…….Look at That!”

Some people think they are not artists, but that maybe they just haven’t found their art yet.

Maybe yours is a bookcase filled with books all glued together, or a sculpture made of pipes from when you redid the plumbing and didn’t know what to do with it all.

If you have roots in a different country, perhaps something from your culture.

Or perhaps a mural of elephants painted on your garage door.

In this time of distancing we all need a project, and this one can keep you busy this summer.

Use this summer to tap your creativity and add to a SeaTac awakening.

let's raise the cool index of seatac!!!

a few things to keep in mind:

You have all summer to conceive, plan and build your project

Your yard art should be reasonably permanent, not something that will fall apart in a month

It’s OK to collaborate with neighbors or friends – you can borrow their tools, their expertise or their skills – what are friends for?

If you have an artistic friend maybe you can offer your yard as a building spot

Some neighbors might even collaborate on a multi yard project giving their block its own focus

Try not to make something that too many of your neighbors will hate!

And of course your piece of art should be visible from the street or sidewalk.

We’ve organized this event in partnership with the city because we’d like people to think SeaTac interesting for something other than a place to park your car when you take a flight

And since we don’t have a downtown to give a sense of community we need to take different steps – together we can help give our town a unique reputation

If you’d like to talk over your project – how to get started, available resources, how to mount it in your yard or other questions please call one of our creative directors – Jim @ 206-226-9965 or Bruce @ 206-853-6208 – we’’ll try to point you in the right direction.

remember, this is supposed to be fun, .....so put your imagination to work, .....and enjoy your summer!

seriously....

If you are interested in making SeaTac a more interesting and fun place, please fill out and submit the application, and then get the creative juices flowing.

We expect some pieces will be full on, purchased, professional artist expressions and some may be more folk art, and some might be neighbor collaborations,……………… big or small, all are welcome!

If you already have a current piece of art that you think your SeaTac neighbors would enjoy seeing and knowing about, please feel free to enter that as well.  We would like to catalogue pieces and locations to create a walking map for SeaTac neighbors and visitors.  If you do not want your address listed that’s fine.  We may just post a picture of it and let people keep their eyes open for your work of art.

Thanks, Vibe Hunters
